The sun bear (Helarctos malayanus) is a protected wildlife that is threatened with extinction due to habitat destruction, poaching, and human-animal conflict. This study aims to examine the rescue, rehabilitation, and release process of sun bears by the Jambi Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) during the period 2020–2022. The method used is descriptive qualitative through field observations at the BKSDA Jambi Animal Rescue Center (TPS), which includes animal care activities, behavioral observations, and recording data on individuals entering and leaving the rehabilitation center. Data were analyzed narratively based on health conditions, animal origins, and the success of the rehabilitation process. The results showed that nine individual sun bears were handled during this period, eight of which were successfully released and one individual died during the rehabilitation period, so that the success rate reached 88.9%. Most of the bears rescued came from cases of illegal keeping or human-animal conflict. Handling was carried out in stages starting from medical treatment, environmental adaptation, to re-wilding. The conclusion of this study shows that collaboration between BKSDA, partner institutions, and the community plays an important role in the success of wildlife conservation, and emphasizes the need to increase public awareness of the protection of endangered species.
