The diversity of freshwater fishes in Indonesia reflects the high ecological and economic potential of fisheries that need to be well managed through research and conservation, especially in habitats such as Coldwater Rivers that are rich in biodiversity but vulnerable to environmental degradation. This research aims to identify fish species found in Sungai Air Dingin, Lubuk Minturun, Kota Padang, and provide preliminary data on fish diversity in the area as a basis for fish resource management. The method used for fish collection was a dip net, and the collected fish samples were identified based on morphological characteristics using relevant literature. Based on observations, a variety of fish species were found in Sungai Air Dingin, dominated by the family Cyprinidae, with two species recorded. The species with the highest number of specimens collected was Amatitlania nigrofasciata (12 specimens) from the family Cichlidae, while the lowest was Tor tambroides (2 specimens) from the family Cyprinidae. The diversity of fish species reflects the ecological conditions of the area. This study is not only essential for understanding the local ecosystem but also serves as a foundation for conservation efforts and aquatic resource management.
