Abstract

Carbon is one of carbon dioxide when in contact with oxygen compounds. The presence of carbon in the atmosphere will increase and under certain conditions carbon can turn into dangerous molecules (CO2, CH4, N2O) in the atmosphere in the form of greenhouse gases (GHG) which will eventually lead to global warming. The largest carbon storage reserve is vegetated land. The research "Estimation of Carbon reserves on the Soil of Protected Forest Stands Sub Watershed I Lubuk Peraku Subdistrict Lubuk Kilangan Padang City" aims to determine the estimation of carbon reserves in the area. This research was conducted in December-January 2023 using purposive sampling method. Conducted in two areas of natural forest and parak. Measurements were made for seedling level and DBH measurements for sampling, pole and wood level. Based on the research, 10 families were identified in the natural forest and 10 families in the parak and the carbon stock of the natural forest area was greater than the parak with a total of 1222.42 kg/ha in the natural forest and 1219.69 kg/ha in the parak.
