Ethnobotany of Medicinal Plants in Nagari Lubuk Bunta, Silaut District, Pesisir Selatan Regency

The utilization of plants as medicine has been known for a long time by the people of Nagari Lubuk Bunta, Silaut District, Pesisir Selatan Regency. The utilization of medicinal plants is passed down from generation to generation by ancestors. However, currently the use of medicinal plants has begun to be abandoned and forgotten especially in the younger generation, therefore, it is necessary to explore the knowledge of the people of Nagari Lubuk Bunta about medicinal plants. The purpose of this study was to determine the types of medicinal plants, organs used, processing methods and utilization of medicinal plants by the people of Nagari Lubuk Bunta Kevamatan Silaut Pesisir Selatan Regency. This research is an exploratory descriptive research using survey methods, semi-structured interviews and field observations. This research was conducted from December 2022 to March 2023 in Nagari Lubuk Bunta, Silaut District, Pesisir Selatan Regency. Respondent selection was carried out by conducting interviews. The sample of 30 respondents included village shamans as key informants totaling 2 people and people who were considered to have an understanding and utilize medicinal plants. Based on the results of the study, it was found that there were 49 types of plants that were used as medicinal plants. Of the 49 plant species grouped into 31 families. The most widely used plant species are from the Zingiberaceae family. Plant organs used by the people of Nagari Lubuk Bunta are roots, stems, bark, fruit and sap. Processing of medicinal plants is done in several ways, namely, boiled, pounded / mashed, dried, squeezed, dripped and consumed directly. The most widely practiced processing is by boiling.
