Etnobothany of Medicinal Plants in The Village Sinunukan IV, Sinunukan Subdistrict, Mandailing Natal Regency

Medicinal plants are plants that are used as raw materials for traditional medicine, which when consumed will increase the body’s immunity. This research was carried out because there are still Sinunukan people who use plants as medicine. This research aims to determine the types of medicinal plants, plant organs used and how they are processed. This research an exploratory descriptive research which was conducted in March-May 2022 in Sinunukan IV Village, Sinunukan District, Mandailing Natal Regency. This research started from observations collecting data bt conducting oral interviews using written interview guidelines. Interviews were conducted with 20 informants. Qualitative data analysis with the support of scientific literature, then the data obtained is presented in tabular form. The research results found 60 species of medicinal plants consisting of 36 families. The medicinal plants that are often found are in the Zingiberaceae family, 6 species. The plants organs that are widely used are leaves. Methods for processing medicinal plants are by boiling, burning, grinding or mashing, pounding, kneading, smoking or roasting, splitting, stomping, grating, cutting and squeezing. Meanwhile, for the use of medicinal plants, some are applied topically, rubbed, drunk and eaten directly. So it can be concluded that the people in Sinunukan IV Village use plants as traditional medicine.
